GREELEY, Colo., Jan. 04, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – JBS USA announced today that it has reached the $ 100 million target for the Hometown Strong Initiative, one of the largest rural investment programs of its kind.

Since the launch of the project in May 2020, JBS USA has worked with community leaders and local officials to identify meaningful investments to strengthen the local communities where the company operates.

Hometown Strong started with a $ 50 million commitment in response to the global epidemic. To date, more than $ 43 million has been invested in more than 200 projects in 42 local communities in 25 US states, including Alberta, Canada. Since that initial announcement, the company has also made $ 10 million in in-kind donations of meat, poultry products to food banks and other needy people across the country.

In June of this year, JBS USA announced an additional $ 20 million investment in the United States and Canada to support affordable housing projects in partnership with local leaders and businesses. This includes building new homes, creating working capital to promote sustainable housing, and ultimately helping the company’s team members achieve their dream home ownership.

The company has now provided $ 20 million to support Hometown Strong projects nationwide, bringing its total commitment to $ 100 million.

In Grand Island, Nebraska, preschool children in the public school district now have their first specialty building, fully equipped to meet their early childhood learning needs. JBS USA has invested $ 400,000 to transform a vacated 47,300-square-foot store near downtown into 10 classrooms, a quiet, active sensory room, a study area, a steam room, and an outdoor playground for 300 children. The East Bay Community of Green Bay, Wisconsin, will be built with a $ 500,000 donation from JBS USA, plus $ 331,500 worth of 25.5 acres of land. This project will include a modern, unique park, a community park, an outdoor gathering place, as well as dormitories for local families. JBS USA is the main donor to the state-of-the-art indoor sports complex in Ottumwa, Iowa. With a donation of $ 1,000,000, this complex will provide the community with year-round leisure opportunities. The presence of this facility has the added benefit of making Ottumwa more attractive for businesses, potential new residents, tourism, and more. In Gainesville, Georgia, Pilgrim’s has invested $ 795,000 in community health to help fund the completion of the Highlands to Islands (H2i) Trail, a multi-lane road that connects several towns in Hall County, including Gainesville, Oakwood և Flowery Branch. As public use of trails increases, this connector will integrate all system paths under one name.
